No this is not a sound article. But it is still pretty cool...

Here is a cheap HD camera for all you adrenalin junkies... and for only $400 AUD!!!
The GoPro camera range is designed for and already used by many professional film and TV producers, athletes and enthusiasts.  GoPro have now developed the new High Definition HD HERO, a full blown professional-grade wearable camera, at consumer price.

these really are great cameras, just did a shoot this weekend and we strapped one to a gobo arm and hung it out the door of a plane. Held fast in 100 mph winds. and the video is AWESOME.

I love a good whatsit. I've seen these things advertised (increasingly so, with the advent of HD) in motorcycle magazines. at first I definitely thought 'cool!' then I immediately considered the reality of videotaping yourself riding a bike... who wants to sit around a tv set and watch me wait at the traffic lights? or tackle the challenge of a maccas drive-thru on two wheels? (I bet you think I'm kidding...) I suppose it's ok for those few 'extreme' moments where you're running from police, backflipping over small children, and turning parked Porsche's into a slalom course. but heavy editing & pre-feature disclaimers aside, I do wonder if it's good for anything except professional skateboard riders or some goon hell bent on making it to Australia's Funniest Home Videos, the Guinness World Records, the Oprah Winfrey Show, or whatever tv air time they can score, at any expense to their dignity... I even saw a Sony one that claimed to shoot in '3D', now I'm no sadist, but there could be a novelty in seeing some misguided long-haired teen on a skateboard split his ankle in 3~4 places and see the carnage in eye popping stereoscopy. these little sticky cameras are definitely handy for the james bond's among us who need to let people know the awesome thing they did just now (not to mention to capture the awesome reflection in that shiny leaf...) but essentially they're a gift purely to the youtube comedy channels...
